Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing FAQs

  • What is Dog Guard fencing?

Dog Guard is a top-of-the-line electronic fencing system that's installed out of sight and underground keeping your pet safe and your yard looking fantastic. Our technicians bury a single continuous wire around the perimeter, and your dog gets impulse training to abide by it. This setup can be customized to suit your location and safely contains your dog inside the space without the cost and aesthetic burden of traditional fencing.

  • How does it work?

Our technicians inspect the area that needs to be secured. Then they install a transmitter in your home, usually the garage or basement, while the wire loop is installed underground.

The transmitter sends a harmless signal through the wire, picked up by the receiver collar when the pet crosses the boundary. You can choose between a mild correction or an audible warning to warn your pet to not cross the border.

  • How do I train my dog to get used to the Dog Guard system?

When the system is installed the boundary is marked off by flags creating a visual perimeter for you and your pet. We recommend that you spend fifteen minutes, twice daily, exercising the dog around the flag boundary for two weeks.

If your dog moves towards the flags, you should tell them “NO!”. Move your dog away from the perimeter and reward them with lots of praise and love.

With this technique, your dog will quickly learn where the boundary is and that they should avoid it. Once your dog is comfortable, you can remove the boundary flags. Repetition, patience, and praise are the keys to successful training!

  • Is it cruel to continually correct my dog this way?

The correction techniques applied with the Dog Guard system have been tested and shown to be harmless. Your pet will receive a mild static pulsation, a slight shock, which is unpleasant enough that the dog will learn to avoid it.

The Dog Guard system helps you teach your pet their boundaries without you having to correct them all the time. Our high-quality system combined with our recommended training ensures your pet learns where the boundary limit is and stays away from it.

  • How much does a Dog Guard system cost?

Dog Guard costs much less than traditional solutions, such as vinyl, aluminum, chain link, or wood fencing. It also does not require expensive upkeep like standard fencing.

The cost of a Dog Guard system varies depending on the property's size and the number of dogs on the system. Feel free to contact us today to obtain a free quotation. Call (636) 397-3321.
